Tutorial Tuesdays: Maneuvering the Manta“It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill” (Wilbur Wright)
Next up in the series of Tutorial Tuesdays is Carrier Command’s aerial unit: the Manta!
The M.A.N.T.A. (Multi-role Aircraft for Nautical Tactical Assault) is an aerial survey craft which has been adapted with weapon capabilities to fight in battle. Designed to enter even the most hazardous zones for mining and exploration, they are highly maneuverable and have good durability. A skilled pilot will be able to glide through the air as a manta ray does through water.
The Manta can be deployed in three different armor variants, ranging from a fast recon vehicle, lightly armored attack aircraft and heavily armed gunship. As such, they are capable of carrying out almost any mission thinkable in any hostile environment or battlefield.
Mantas can be rigged with an adaptable carrying harness and then used to quickly carry and move Walrus vehicles around the islands or to otherwise unreachable areas. This advanced option allows very fast and accurate ground force deployment even directly to the heart of enemy territory.
You will able to dock up to four Mantas on board of the carrier. For any combat or reconnaissance missions, unmanned Mantas can be sent out. However, be aware of the range of connection (the telemetry). Only up to a certain distance it is possible to control a Manta directly from the carrier. If a Manta stays outside the connection for a longer period of time, it will self-destruct to prevent the enemy to take control of it.
Hopefully you’ll be able to use this information to your tactical advantage. In the next Tutorial Tuesday we’ll be examining Carrier Command’s amphibious unit: the Walrus. So be sure to follow us while we introduce you to more and more aspects of the game!
