After a successful Round 1, we ring the bell for a second round of 5 community questions!
1. When will Carrier Command be released? (Patrick Mc Ateer)
The release date is set for the second quarter of 2012. Exact information regarding the release date will be announced later.
2. Can we leave the commander’s chair and walk around the island as infantry? (Krycek)
There will be some moments where you will have to leave the carrier and get into the combat. However, this will only happen during specific moments in the story-driven campaign.
3. Will one be able to walk around the carrier and interact with the crew, just like one can do in the Silent Hunter series? (BFCrusader)
You will not be able to freely walk around the carrier, but you will get to see the inside of the carrier during cut scenes. The same goes for the crew interaction. You’ll not be able to converse with crew members at will, but there will be interaction during cut scenes and in-game advisory videos. In the latter for instance, your crew members will provide you with tactical information and such.
4. You mentioned that Mantas can be sent out unmanned. However, given the fact that the Manta seems to have a cockpit, is it also possible to get into the Manta yourself? (Warboss)
Yes, on some occasions you will have to get into the Manta and pilot it yourself. This will be when you need to achieve specific goals during some of the story-driven campaign missions.
5. Can we use Mantas for kamikaze attacks? (Warboss)
The destruction of vehicles deals damage to the objects around them. So in theory it should be possible to damage structures in this way. Practically speaking though, firing a few rockets would be much more effective, not to mention cheaper!
Lastly, many people asked us questions about mission editing and modding. If you’re one of them, please stay tuned. In Round 3 we’ll make sure to address this topic!
In the meantime, you can always submit new questions on our Facebook Page, the special Community in Command forum thread, or the newly implemented comment system on our website!
